Andrews A2 Camshaft for 1970-E1977 Harley-Davidson Shovelhead

Trying to wake up your Shovel? The Andrews A and later redesign, the A2, are legendary cams riders have relied upon for years.

  • Bolt-in—no head work or high-lift springs required for most motorcycles
  • Works well with stock compression and mild engine setups and compression ratio, providing more mid-range response and high-end power but retains a smooth idle
  • Can be used with hydraulic or solid lifters
    • Cam will feel slightly more aggressive if used with solid lifters
    • "Comes on" from 2,500 to 6,000 RPM
    • Ignition upgrades may be required to explore the upper RPM capabilities of the cam if revs are limited electronically
  • .450" lift
  • More aggressive than H, S, or J cam
    • This cam is slightly beyond "mild street" and is usually a good choice for those on motorcycles with stock displacement and standard bolt-on upgrades like free-flowing exhaust, less restrictive air cleaner,
  • Cam gear designed for 1970 to early 1977 Shovelhead
    • Camshaft, pinion gear, and breather valve gear pitch diameter differ from later engines
    • Not interchangeable with later style unless replaced as a full set
    • Not sure what you have? Shovelheads with the early pitch can be identified by a completely flat cam gear face
      • Large circle(s) milled into the cam gear's face indicate the presence of a later setup

A properly-selected camshaft can help change where and how an engine produces power. Throttle response, torque, and horsepower all can be altered with the right bumpstick. Andrews' extensive selection makes it easier to choose a camshaft that works with your particular engine and modifications (planned or existing).

Andrews' formidable selection is part of the reason they're considered one of the leaders in camshaft production for domestic V-twin motorcycles. Each cam is proudly made in USA.

  • 1970-E1977 Harley-Davidson Big Twin with Shovelhead engine
  • Shovelheads were built with two different geartrain pitches changing in late 1977; the later pitch components can be identified by a circular groove machined into the face of the cam gear
  • 110-0362; replaces 0925-0292, 212263, 10-2263
