The size and shape of factory oil tanks often means they can't be reused without lots of fabrication, especially when used on a motorcycle that's been converted to a rigid rear. This round oil tank looks great on a wide variety of motorcycles, from choppers to metric café motorcycles to Britbikes.
This TC Bros. Round Oil Tank has dimensions that agree with a wide variety of build types. It has a custom oil bag look that doesn't shout for attention. It's a highly functional reservoir, too, holding about three quarts of oil, but it's a small enough in diameter to fit even in cramped spaces.
In addition to the filler hole, the tank is set up with bungs to accept 1/4" NPT fittings ready for you to plumb for your feed line, return line, and vent. For a simpler installation, a vented filler cap is available separately. Mounting kits (also available separately) are a natural fit for 1982-2003 Harley-Davidson Sportsters that have been hardtailed using a TC Bros. rear section, but this tank and those kits are also very suitable for Harley-Davidson Big Twins and lots of other custom bikes with a traditional backbone and seat tube arrangement.
We pressure-test these oil bags, but as in any custom build, it's a good idea to do it again after welding and fabrication. Mockup is standard procedure when building a custom motorcycle before applying any final coatings to ensure there are no leaks and there is proper clearance to route fittings and hoses.
