Supports the front of the rear fender on rigid frames
Supports the rear of the rear fender on rigid frames; complete kit
You'd think finding something as basic as a nice flat fender for a rear wheel would be a cinch, but there's more to consider than meets the eye, which is why we offer this one for your consideration.
This TC Bros. fender is among the highest quality sheet metal you can find for your project. Unlike other fenders you might see that are simply trailer fenders, this one is actually designed for motorcycle use.
What does that mean? Well, the most important aspect is that it fits the profile of a motorcycle tire properly. These fenders feature a 27" diameter (13-1/2" radius) that follows motorcycle tires made for both 16" and 18" rear wheels. (18" and 16" vintage tires, the two most popular rear sizes for traditional and vintage builds, both have this approximate OD.) This is really important—altering the radius of a fender involves lots of work (tons of pie cuts and rewelding, plus the application of all that body filler you probably don't want in your fender). See the infographic to see exactly how this looks—it isn't pretty.
It also means this isn't some thin steel designed chiefly to get a trailer past state inspection. These motorcycle-specific fenders are made from heavy 14 gauge steel to survive the abuse that hardtail rigid frame choppers and bobbers dish out. The fender isn't drilled, so you can cut, trim, drill, and weld to your heart's content to get the perfect appearance on your project. And you can be sure your pillion is safe behind you.
And the final piece? There are two widths to choose from, unlike most rebranded trailer fenders. 5" width is ideal for 120-series-and-narrower (3.00") tires and the 6" width works great for 140-series-and-narrower (5.00") tires, and the short skirts present a finished appearance without hiding your tire and wheel.
