Harley-Davidson cylinders, being laid out in a vee configuration, grow taller and apart from one another as the engine heats, and this process reverses as the engine cools. The change often yields exhaust fasteners that can temporarily lose their clamping power on the exhaust flanges, and when that occurs, the door opens for them to loosen and lose their clamping power permanently until retightened.
Stop that process in its tracks with Stage 8 Locking Exhaust fasteners. If you've got bolts in your heads, install your exhaust as using the special Stage 8 fasteners, placing the retainer over the bolts. The retainer's clip fits into the bolt's special groove, holding it captive. Because the retainer is installed against the pipe, the fastener is rendered unable to turn.
