The relaxed geometry of the Dyna and the laid-back attitudes of many of the Dyna faithful might lull one into thinking the bikes are staid. While they are easy to ride in stock form, there’s also a nasty snarl inside what was Harley-Davidson’s most athletic Big Twin for many years. Dependable drivetrains, solid front ends, and modern brakes allow an experienced pilot to eke surprising performance from a stock FXD of any year of manufacture.
Even a cursory assessment of the parts that compose a Dyna leads many owners to realize the parts are very much able to be improved on a machine where the torque-to-weight ratio is already pretty appealing.
We made our Dyna a street brawler. Tall, lanky, firm, stripped down. The Dyna is loud and rowdy, and basically dares you to snap the throttle when you hop on. The parts we installed made it go fast and made it stop fast. Big brakes, big shocks, and big sprockets for big wheelies and big stoppies.
It ain’t a Heritage. It ain’t for everyone. It ain’t welcome at your local shiny-bikes-only show. But if “misbehavior “ is on your motorcycle to-do list, some of the parts we make for the thrill-seeking division might help build a bike to check that item off it.
