The Low Cost Laundry Tool That Makes Adjusting Pushrods a Snap

The image tells the whole story here, so this piece really doesn't need too many words.
Anyone who’s ever adjusted pushrods on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle with overhead valves has fought the tubes collapsing in the middle of the job, jingling against your wrenches and getting in the way.

An old coot showed me a trick I will pass along: hold 'em out of the way with a clothespin.
You only really need one since you’re only adjusting one pushrod at a time, obviously, but I'd recommend filching two from the laundry room so you can keep one in your tool roll, too. The locknuts usually stay put, but every now and again one will work loose under power. It makes a heck of a clatter!
This is one of those tips I've received that aged well. At first glance, it would seem this is more relevant natively for older stock motorcycles that required regular adjustment. However, the clothespin still has a place on current-platform motorcycles with aftermarket adjustable pushrods installed due to engine modifications, which is reasonably common for owners of Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
They're cheap to buy, they work well, and are relevant for many motorcycles; what's not to love?
