TC Bros. Featured Customer Ride - Dustin Ford

TC Bros. Customer Rides – a series dedicated to the fabrication ingenuity and creativity of our customers and featuring their rides they've shared with us.

Sent to us from Dustin Ford of Karns, Tennessee.

In his own words:

“My bike started life with me in October 2011. It was my first bike I had planned a full build for.

I've always rode, from dirt bikes to big choppers. I started my street bike riding at 14 with a Honda Rebel 250 then at 16 I got my first Harley fatboy then at 19 traded that for a ‘04 Harley standard I was ahead of the game of big wheel baggers. Then sold it and bought a Buell Firebolt 1200 and sold that and didn't have a bike for a while but would borrow my dad’s custom fatboy.

Then in 2010, my dad bought an all custom chopper - well he didn't like the ride so I've rode it till I finished my xs650. I work at a hot rod shop and will cut and weld on anything I own. Whether it be my show trucks I have or custom cars. So I thought well I’ll do a quick bobber build…

… 2 1/2 years later it’s done. Lol… took a ‘lil longer than expected. I decided after I cut my bike in half, well no turning back and why cut any corners just to hurry up and get it done.

TC Bros. Choppers made most my project possible with great parts and helpful staff with all my crazy questions!

I had a vision and stuck with it. I wanted my paint bad ass as rest of my theme! I was fortunate to have PPG paints supply me with all my paints and did I need a lot. There are 28 coats of paint and clear to bury the different colors and stripping and flake!! There's also no welds showing anymore after I did my hard tail I smoothed everything on frame I could see or couldn't. Same goes for the tank and fender no welds to see.

My parts from TC Bros. consist of:

XS650 Weld-On Hardtail Frame Kit,Axed Tank, Flat Rear Fender, Extended Cables, 12" Apes, Throttle, Tires, Rear Brake Pads and Steering Bearings. And I'm sure other things I forgot.

Hudsons Rod & Customs hooked up my seat pan I made for me and passenger with white leather… no vinyl crap. I tried to keep a real cool old style theme, no zip ties to hold wires. I did all safety wire like for race cars. My tires are bias ply. Now I'm ready to start on another bike – the most the fun was building it. It gave me tons of time in the garage and search of a part I had in mind while either at a car show or bike show with my dad and other family and friends that'd come to see what was new or different on the build.
